Sweet and Sour Chicken balls

IMG_20140226_225147Who doesn’t love chinese food ! Especially when eating out, Americans love chinese. Chinese food is available all over the world, but almost every country has its own version. Sweet and Sour Chicken balls is my very own version of the original dish. Do try it out in your kitchen, because it turns out really good. You can serve it with Chicken fried rice or noodles.

Do you know why Chinese do not like to use knives and forks ? Because they think they are weapons. That is why they use boneless meat and chopped veggies which could be picked up with chopsticks.

In a wok, put 3 tbsp. of oil and add onions, garlic, chillies, and the remaining sauces one by one. Then add honey. Saute on high heat for a while and add the chicken balls. Take it out in a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds and spring onion greens.

Serve hot with fried rice or noodles.

Extra tip:

If you want, you can make a gravy out of this dish by adding some cornflour paste and some chicken/veg stock or just some water.

Health tip:

For all those who think Ajinimoto or Chinese salt is a must for chinese dishes, think again. This dish tastes just as good without it.

What stellar photography too! Would you think this would work with ground chicken of would it be too fatty? The ingredients are making my mouth water!

What is unique to this recipe is shredded chicken. I am not sure it would taste the same with ground chicken.
