Chicken Dim Sums

Dim sums or Momos are a delicious Cantonese snack steamed and served in bamboo steamers specially made for this purpose.Steaming is a healthy, delicious cooking method — adding no fat or grease while bringing out food’s natural flavor. I had been wanting to make steamed chicken dim sums for quite some time, but couldn’t lay my hands on a traditional steaming basket. I was planning to order it online, but couldn’t wait till the basket arrived at my door step. As if to end my dilemma, the door bell rang. There was a cute cane basket with my favorite fruits at my door step with a note ” With Love From Dad ” ……. And what did I love more ‘my favorite exotic fruits’, ‘ the cute little basket which was forming ideas at the back of my mind ‘ , or ‘ the sweet note from dad ‘ . Well!!! All three of them. I immediately planned to make ( no no not fruit salad 🙂 lol  ) Chicken dim sums in this basket for dinner, but first things first, I had to call dad to thank him for his awesome gift  ❤

This is the traditional Bamboo steamer. Try to get hold of this. but if your craving for hot , juicy, delicious, home made momos have got the better of you and you can’t wait , try what I did. The result was very good. No compromise on taste. Though maybe the appearance would have been a bit better if I made it in the traditional one.

Don’t wait. Just make it and enjoy. I am taking these dim sums to Fiesta Friday 39. It’s double celebrations there, because it is Angie’s birthday too. Waiting for the red carpet welcome as Angie promised from her two gracious co-hosts  Suzanne @apuginthekitchen and Sue @Birgerbird . Come along with me and join the fun fiesta at the Novice gardener’s.

    This recipe sounds DELICIOUS!
I make my own pot stickers using pre-made won ton wrappers, often using ground turkey in the filling, plus Nappa Cabbage minced ginger, garlic, soy sauce and Szechuan Sauce for spice. I wonder if YOUR dough recipe would be better than the store bought?

The dough is soft and pliable. What you can do is roll it out and use a glass or a round cookie cutter to cut out round shapes. Thank you for appreciating 🙂

Well this is a surprise. I expected the recipe to be so much more involved, though I doubt mine would look nearly as good as yours. Those that you’ve made are restaurant quality but I bet they taste better. Homemade is always better.

Thank you so much for your awesome words of appreciation. It was easier than I thought. They actually taste better than they look. Do try making them. I also forgot to mention in the recipe that I had lined the steamers with cabbage leaves so that the momos don’t stick to the steamer.

  19. I love Dim Sum, but for some reason have never tried to make them from scratch, egg rolls are about the only thing I have tried in that category, and I purchased the wrappers. This is inspiring and I will make these. Thank you for visiting my site, I am just a beginner and it helps to have support from other people .
