Chocolate Ganache Icing cake – For Cheryl’s birthday

So, when is Cheryl’s birthday?

The seemingly simple  puzzle given to 14 year old high school students by their maths teacher in Singapore has baffled at least half the world, after it went viral. People from across the world have been trying to solve it and post their answers on social networking sites. While everyone is busy cracking the puzzle, I thought there should be at least some one preparing to celebrate Cheryl’s birthday.

I have planned to make Chocolate Ganache Frosting cake and Julie’s Dutch Apple cake. For those who haven’t tried their hand at solving the puzzle which has stumped the world, I am posting the question below. And those of you who already have solved it , please join me in the celebrations 😉

Chocolate Ganache Frosting

This is by far my favorite frosting. It is easy to make, delicious, gorgeous looking and very versatile. I usually make it in advance and warm it in the microwave just before pouring it on the cake. Chocolate ganache can be made in a flowing consistency (which is how I like it) or a bit thicker like a spread. I do not like to use cream in my ganache. This recipe is very simple and the ganache looks like a mirror glaze when poured over a cake.

 Julie’s Dutch Apple Cake

Two days back I came across this beautiful recipe at Julie’s delicious blog and  knew I had to bake it immediately. The ingredients were all available at home so there was no excuse to not try it. As expected it turned out very well. The fragrance of cinnamon and apples wafting out of the kitchen made the already ravenous family so impatient that they didn’t wait till I got my camera and my green tea. The cake was gone in minutes. What you can see below is the last slice of the Dutch Apple Cake. I know the picture didn’t come out well but the cake was extra ordinary. Thank you Julie for sharing. For the recipe please hop onto Julie’s blog

Thank you so much ☺ Actually quite some time back when i added cream the ganache split. Since then I have been making ganache with butter and I really like the glossy look which butter gives.

Aww, great recipes here skd… I’m going to try your chocolate cake, and true, love that ganache the best. Your cake looks pretty yummy. Love your new look on your blog too…. I wonder how you got your blogger community pictures as small as you have? Mine for some reason appear real large, so I have not posted pictures of them, just the names of blogs I follow.

Thank you so much Loretta for the feedback. I so much wanted to know what all of you think about the new look. However I couldn’t get the comments section on the main page unless someone gets into the post they cannot view the comments. It can be a bit of a hassle but I want to wait and see for sometime. About the community pics , there is an option of ‘few’ or ‘many’ . Maybe if you chose the ‘many’ option we get small pics. I am not sure though. Thank you once again for liking and the feedback 💕
