There’s something about childhood friends that you just can’t replace – Lisa Whelchel
Every friendship is special but the friendships made in our childhood are closest to our heart. Aren’t they? There is an amazing level of comfort and understanding having literally grown up together.Sharing lunches and secrets, dreading some strict teachers and loving some adorable ones, celebrating victories and crying over losses, learning and unlearning- we did all these together. We saw each other being praised- being punished, in happy times and in sad, in braces and in ruffled hair. There was innocence and healthy competition- no adult rivalry or fear of being judged. A sense of familiarity,of belonging and bonding -something which transcends time and distance.
My school organised a reunion recently- the first of it’s kind on it’s 50th anniversary. I have attended college reunions but a school reunion is something different. A beautiful experience which I cannot describe in words. I met a lot of friends and teachers who came from all over the world just to attend this meet. I found atleast 25 class friends who I had lost contact with after we graduated. We were meeting after more than twenty years. There was a lot of fun, excitement and catching up. We promised to keep in touch. Thanks to social media it is so much easier now. We made a whatsapp group and there has never been a dull day on it ever since. It is literally active 24/7 because we are all scattered across the globe in different time zones and have stories spanning 20+ years which need sharing.
This post is dedicated to all my glamour girls ❤

Strawberries, cream and chocolate are made for each other. They complement each other and combine beautifully into a sweet relationship like the best of friends. Strawberry Tiramisu is one such delicious dessert which can be relished with family and friends. It is simple and easy to prepare and assemble.
STEP 1:
Strawberry layer: Clean, hull and chop strawberries. Mix some strawberry syrup or jam and keep in the fridge.
STEP 2:
Chocolate layer: This requires a chocolate cake about one inch thick. You can either bake it at home with this recipe or use a store bought one. Cut discs from the cake with the help of a cookie cutter. The discs should be the size of the glass you are setting the tiramisu in. I used shot glasses because they are so dainty and make for small and pretty serves.

STEP 3:
Cream and Cream cheese layer: Whisk 180g cream cheese and 75g heavy cream separately till light . Add 40g sugar to cream and whisk well till fluffy. Add vanilla pod or essence. Fold in the cream cheese. Pour this mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star nozzle or any other nozzle and keep in the fridge.
STEP 4:
Assembling the Strawberry Tiramisu:
- Put a teaspoon of strawberries into a shot glass.
- Place a disc of chocolate cake.
- Dissolve a teaspoon of instant coffee powder in a cup of hot water. Let it cool.
- Drizzle a teaspoon or less of this coffee on the chocolate layer.
- Pipe a layer of cream cheese over it.
- Repeat the layers.
- Top it with some strawberries and a mint leaf.
- Keep it in the fridge for at least an hour.
- Serve chilled.
- Enjoy….

Brace yourself! Summer is close. And if we have drinks like this for a lazy summer afternoon, do we need anything more?

My pleasure, totally. Sorry i reblogged first, read the post later. Saw it was a dessert not a drink, my bad. Anyways, this looks very delicious. 🙂 Thanks for sharing Ana. Get togethers (reunions) are so much fun, although I am craving for one like yours, school reunion. xx

It all comes to the effect you want to create. I am a fun of natural lighting and I prefer rather high contrast…so the early afternoon pic gives you that result. You see a warmth to the colours. It tones down at the other two, it becomes more flat…it’s a matter of personal perspective and aesthetics.
On a side note about a past subject, I think that the watermark position deems the whole idea void, since it can easily be cropped out. A more centered position with experimentation about the value of the watermark’s opacity might do the trick. I will start doing so.
Be well 🙂

Thank you Spira!! It is my favorite too but I wanted to know how others perceive it. I love to click in natural light too. As you said it gives a natural warmth to the colors.
And you are absolutely right about the watermark positioning. My husband keeps telling me that. I am afraid the central position would take away the fun and appeal of the picture but it is practically useless putting it at the bottom. I will try to be more careful in future. Thank you once again for the nice tips ☺👍

I like both the early afternoon for its depth and the late afternoon for its clarity. In regards to the above-mentioned watermark – I’m on the fence! When I put ours centered in my photos my husband tells me they detract from the beauty of the food and when I put them on the edges there’s a chance for stolen photos – so I’m never sure exactly what to do?! 😀 the tiramisu looks delicious by the way!

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback Linda. Regarding the watermark I guess it is always the choice between aesthetic appeal and security 😉
Thank you once again and enjoy your weekend 👍☺

As much as I enjoy tiramisu and dislike many of the “improvements” posted, your version here is the exception that proves the rule. It’s so beautifully presented and we all know how well those flavors go together. Very nicely done!

First of all Ana, delicious tiramisu in a glass. Secondly, I like the second to last picture in the late afternoon – I read somewhere that it probably is the best lighting for photographs. I too like experimenting with all types of light. Unfortunately I just have a point and shoot camera so don’t have all the settings to get DOF etc. I completely understand how you must have felt with your reunion. Unfortunately, my classmates too are spread around the world – I like the idea of starting up a Whatsapp group (something I’ve only just started with my own family in England).

Thank you dear Loretta for the nice feedback. The early afternoon pic had sunlight beaming on the top layer and the late afternoon light is cooler and at a lower angle defining the layers clearly. Clicking in natural light is incomparable. The pics in my earlier posts always were shot in indoor lighting.
WhatsApp is so convenient to connect Loretta. I like it better than other social media. People are talking round the clock on this group and we can join them in our own free time. It is lot of fun. Thanks again and have a lovely weekend. I have a blogger friend @Foodeva Marsay who is basically from South Africa and I am sure you will have a lot of common things to share. Good day 😙😙
