This quote will always remind me of an amazing person,my father in law who sadly passed a few months ago. Orphaned at the age of 8 years,he took upon himself to look after and educate not only himself but also his 6 siblings, showering them with love and affection,in short being a parent to them.At the young age of 19,he took over the reins of the family business which was left unattended since his father’s death. He faced all the hurdles the big bad competitive business world threw at him,all the while shielding his brothers and sisters, with an exceptional composure and maturity. He gradually climbed the ladder to success and became one of the most reckoned names in the industry. He was unanimously elected as the President of the Traders Association of the State every single term, right from its inception in 1974 to his passing away in April 2018. He was a recipient of several awards and honors.
I am proud to be called his daughter in law.But his awards and business acumen is not what I remember him for. I remember my dear father in law for his humility during his achievements, his calm demeanor during tough times, his gentle smile, kindness to strangers, the love and respect he gave to his extended family(he always kept his and his brothers’ families together and united),his relatives, friends and his business associates and for his awesome sense of humor.Every other weekend he would host a dinner for his family and friends(50 people in all).He loved being with people.Watching his family and friends bonding over food I suppose gave him lots of happiness.
We all fondly called him Pappa. I will always remember Pappa for the respect and importance he gave me,his daughter in law. Though he had enough people at his beck and call to manage events,he would sometimes call me up and ask me to organise an event, plan a menu for an upcoming party or supervise a quiz program which he regularly conducts for school students. These are little gestures which I will never forget because it made me feel special and important. I pray that his soul always rests in peace. I could not get myself to blog ever since his passing away. It is with lot of courage I am writing this post because I did not want to resume my blogging without first paying homage to our dear Pappa. He will always be missed ❤
Very sweet! A man well loved by one and all !!!
Virtual hugs,
Judie
